Does GPTZero Integrate with Google Classroom?
Last updated: October 25, 2026
You can check a Google Doc while you grade it in Google Classroom. The GPTZero browser extension adds a sidebar on the right side of the grading view. The same sidebar appears in Google Assignments.
For Canvas, Moodle, and other learning systems, see Can GPTZero integrate with my school's LMS?
Open a submission
Install the extension and log in. Open a student submission that is a Google Doc. Slides and spreadsheets are not scanned.
The first time, click Get Started.
If you are not signed in, click Log in on the sidebar. If you do not have an account, click Sign up - it's free.
To find the sidebar, click the round GPTZero button in the Classroom side tabs. It scrolls the page to the sidebar.
Show or hide the sidebar
If you do not see the sidebar, open the GPTZero extension while the Classroom page is the current tab. Turn on Enable GPTZero. Under Google Classroom - Grading, turn on Show in Classroom sidebar.
To hide it, open the three-dot menu on the sidebar and choose Hide GPTZero. Turn Show in Classroom sidebar back on when you want it again.
Read the result
The score on the sidebar is how likely the whole submission was written by AI.
Turn on AI sentences when you want the document to mark the sentences that look like AI.
Click View full analysis to open the scan in GPTZero. Open in GPTZero, at the bottom of the sidebar, opens a scan that is already saved.
The scan needs at least 250 characters. A shorter submission is not scanned.
Choose when the scan runs
If you want each submission scanned as soon as you open it, turn on “Auto-scan on launch.” The switch is in the extension, under Google Classroom - Grading.
If you would rather scan a submission yourself, open the three-dot menu on the sidebar and choose Turn off auto-scan. Then click Scan for AI.
Watch how the document was written
Turn on Writing replay video under Google Classroom - Grading when you want a record of how the document was written.
In the sidebar, click Play writing video to watch the recording.
