How can I use the Microsoft Word Add-In to check for AI?

Once the add-in is installed, GPTZero sits in a sidebar on the right of your Word window. If you have not installed it yet, see How can I get the Microsoft Word Add-In?

  1. Open the sidebar. If it is not already showing, go to the Home tab and click Show GPTZero on the far right, under Commands Group.

  2. Sign in. The first screen has a single Login In / Sign Up button, which opens a GPTZero login window. You need an account to scan text.

  3. Select the text you want to check in your document. It is copied into the sidebar automatically. You can also type or paste directly into the sidebar box.

  4. Click Get Results.

Your selection needs to be at least 250 characters. Below that you will see "Please fill in at least 250 characters to get results". On the free plan, only the first 10,000 characters of a longer selection are scanned.

The result appears at the top of the sidebar, and sentences that are more likely to have been written by AI are highlighted in yellow.
